Two months ago I went to Bromo for a quick getaway. There are four sightseeing spots there: sunrise view point at Penanjakan, Crater, Savanna, and Pasir Berbisik aka Whispering Sand. To see all I would need to hire a jeep or an ojek (it's basically a taxi but instead of a car and its driver, it's a motorcycle and its driver). I decided to go with the ojek since it's far cheaper. It costed me IDR 300.000 (about $30) whereas the jeep would cost me IDR 750.000 (about $75).

The ojek driver picked me up at the inn at 3:30 AM. We arrived the parking area at Penanjakan after about 30 minutes ride. From there I could either walk or hire a horse for IDR 50.000 (around $5) to get to the Sunrise View Point. I decided to walk because I felt that I could still manage that.

When I arrived at the sunrise view point I could see a streak of orange painted on the sky already. It’s quite crowded there so I decided to climb a bit more. It’s quite a challenge because I need to do some mini wall-climbing but it’s absolutely worth it. I could see the misty landscape below. As the dawn broke, the fog began to disperse.
